Data Mining Tutorial

A step-by-step guide to using the Ceres data mining tool.

Overview

The data mining tool enables the user to identify promoters based on the presence of selected TF binding sites in the promoter sequence or the gene ontology (GO) classification of the corresponding gene. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will first use the data mining tool to select genes classified in the structural constituent of ribosome, mitochondrial ribosome, or cytosolic ribosome GO terms. Second, we will use the data mining tool to select all promoters that contain a RAP1 TF binding site located in a nucleosome free region and a FHL1 TF binding site (all nucleosome environments) in the first 1000 bp of their promoter sequence.
